ABOUT
I’m Tarrah, a licensed therapist as well as a mother, wife, friend, and real person here to help. My goal is helping children and teens cope with life’s challenges while becoming individuals who recognize their worth, as well as parents needing support. I see people as more than their diagnoses and with that in mind I strive to guide growth and understanding of how to live life fully. My work focuses on children and teens with serious/acute mental illnesses and symptoms (like Bipolar, suicidal ideation, behavioral concerns, and personality disorders) and their parents.
CLIENTS
I see children and teens aged 6+ as well a parents. You may be looking for yourself as you are struggling through managing toddler tantrums, teen defiance, or any other childhood stage (let's be honest-they're all difficult!). Or you may be looking for a safe adult your child can talk to as they're navigating bullying, school anxiety, inability to process a divorce, and beyond. College aged humans, I adore working with you too- from nightmare roommates to stressful classes, I'm here for it all. I do not shy away from past traumatic experiences or current big scary thoughts and behaviors, I'd love to be able to support you or your child through whatever you bring to session.

APPROACH
I lean on my lived experience and appreciation of children as individuals to tailor my therapy to each person- whether that be a comfy space and kind listening ear or an adult being firmly honest and holding boundaries. My sessions are based in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, and Psychoeducation- all centered around a Humanistic Approach. I find that teaching each person about their symptoms or diagnoses, in a digestible way, leads to understanding one’s self and ultimately to growth.
EXPERIENCE
I earned my Master’s in Clinical Psychology, with an emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy, from Pepperdine University. At Arizona State University I received my Bachelor’s in Psychology, with a minor in Family and Human Development. I then focused my clinical work on adults with serious/acute mental illnesses (like Schizophrenia, Bipolar, suicidal ideation, psychosis, and personality disorders) who involuntarily resided in hospitals and inpatient facilities. I am pivoting my work to focus on children, as based on that past clinical experience I recognize the benefit of helping children learn to form healthy coping strategies, safety plans, and strong support networks. I believe that understanding one’s mental health from an early age, as well as learning to live functionally with symptoms, is key to growing into a happy, healthy human. Seeing the need for parents to receive support on how to more effectively help their children, I expanded my practice to include working with adults in parent support/parenting issues as well.
